Otto and I became acquainted with the trekking bureau Multiadventure Pvt Ltd in 2002. We got to know the proprietors Ngima Sherpa and Chengda Sherpa as people who make every effort to deliver a good product at a reasonable price.
In the two occasions that something didn't go according to plan with treks in Tibet we received a fair compensation.
On the first occasion, a Chinese agent was responsible for our missing out on an important 4-day stay at the Everest base camp which meant we were back in Kathmandu 4 days early. On the second occasion, the Chinese agent had made an error with the papers which prevented us from doing the walk from the Cho Oyu base camp to the Everest base camp. Subsequently, one of our party of 3 became ill and we decided not to do the planned Kharta trek. As a result we returned to Kathmandu 9 days early. As compensation we were offered a 3-day 'Cultural Tour' in the Kathmandu valley and a stay at the Chitwan National Park.
I've had long conversations with especially Ngima and not just about trekking. He speaks good English as well as German.
Both Ngima and Chengda are socially active as you will see by going to http:\\www.friendsofhimalaya.org, entry point 'Paten Parent',
or to http://www.patenkinderhimalaya.org.
It needs no explaining that we were shocked when we received the message that Ngima suddenly died in the spring of 2009.
